Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the dynamic behavior of the building systems with and without cantilever, which have hardy and conventional slabs, exposed to the horizontal component of the earthquake is investigated. STA4CAD program is used in the numerical analysis of the building systems. A building, which applied in the İpekyolu District of Van Province, is selected as a model. Internal forces, nodal displacements and periods are obtained for each of the eight structures with conventional and hardy slab, which are designed in accordance with the Turkish Earthquake Code (TEC2007). Then four different structures with cantilever are redesigned according to Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBEC2018) and the results of the analyses are evaluated. By this means, the comparison of the two regulations on systems with conventional slabs is provided. As a result, it is observed that the displacement, period, and internal forces increase as the cantilever distance increases in the structures with conventional and hardy slabs, which are designed according to TEC2007 and TBEC2018. This increase is seen in both slab types. It is concluded from these results that the behavior of the structures are negatively affected by increasing the cantilever distance. Keywords: Cantilever length, Conventional slab, Hardy slab.
