Abstract (EN)
This thesis consisting of abstract, introduction, four chapters, conclusions, bibliography and references analyses Sharh-i Mezāmīnu'l-Emsāl by Āsimzāde Hāmid, who lived in the last quarter of the 18th century and first half of 19th century. The aim of the study is to develop a Turkish translated text of the work which is originally a Turkish text in Arabic alphabet. In the first chapter of the thesis the proverbs (Mesel) and the concepts that revolve around it are examined. As some of the works in which Arabic and Persian proverbs are compiled, translated and commented are pinpointed. The second part of the thesis focuses on the life, literary personality and works of Āsimzāde Hāmid. In this context, the information's are chiefly attained from memorials and encyclopedias. In the third chapter of the thesis, the main subject of Āsimzāde Hāmid's Sharh-i Mezāmīnu'l-Emsāl, which formed our main subject is examined from different angles. After giving information about the writing date and reason of the work, different methods were followed in order to classify the proverbs. That is time, structure, reality, place of origin and subjects were discussed. These methods are described in detail as appropriate. Again in this section, the sources used by the author are emphasized. That is, after the compilation of relevant and non-related sources, general information about them is given. In addition to these, in order to determine the commentary strategy followed by the author the epode written in the introduction part of his work is studied and all the proverbs commentaries are read. Likewise all the features he considers important are investigated. In the fourth part of the thesis, the work of Āsimzāde Hāmid, Sharh-i Mezāmīnu'l-Emsāl, was translated into today's Turkish alphabet. The Arabic and Persian sentences in it were translated into Turkish as well.
