Abstract (TR)

In this study there was an effort to investigate whether asprosin could be a valuable factor in managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and metabolic syndrome (MetS). They compared the lipid profiles, glucose levels, insulin levels, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels, and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in three groups: 40 individuals with T2DM, 40 people with MetS, and 50 healthy individuals used as controls. The results showed that both the T2DM and MetS groups had higher blood glucose and HbA1c levels compared to the control group, indicating poorer glycemic control in these patients. Additionally, increased insulin levels were observed in both the T2DM and MetS groups, which is a characteristic feature of insulin resistance, a key factor underlying both MetS and type 2 diabetes. Among the three groups, the individuals with MetS had the most distinct lipid profiles, which could contribute to their increased risk of cardiovascular complications. Furthermore, the study discovered that asprosin levels were significantly elevated in patients with both T2DM and MetS, suggesting a potential link between asprosin and the development of these conditions. Asprosin levels were found to be higher in those with MetS compared to those with T2DM, indicating a potential association between asprosin and the severity of MetS. The observed higher hs-CRP levels in patients with T2DM and MetS further support the notion that inflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of these metabolic disorders. The findings suggest that asprosin may play a pivotal role in the development of both T2DM and MetS, potentially sharing a common etiological pathway. Asprosin could be a promising target for further research to better understand its mechanisms of action and its potential as a therapeutic agent for managing these metabolic conditions. However, additional studies are needed to confirm these findings and explore the precise role of asprosin in the pathophysiology of T2DM and MetS.
