Özet (EN)

The indispensable role played by rural and community banks in promoting the advancement of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana has been of paramount significance since their inception, facilitated by the Bank of Ghana to extend financial benefits to small-scale rural producers and residents of smaller towns through accessible credit resources. There have been dramatic increases in microcredit initiatives over the past few decades in Ghana, revealing an urgent need for a full evaluation of their impact on achieving their goals. Moreover, the absence of ample and contemporary research into the contributions of microcredit initiatives on poverty alleviation, socio-economic empowerment and sustainable development in Ghana, is what makes this challenge a fruitful reality. The current study utilized a cross-sectional mixed methods design. The sample size consisted of 150 women entrepreneurs selected through probability sampling. These women were administered a questionnaire and were led in the focus group discussion using an interview guide. In this study, the data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. An analysis of focus group discussions was performed to substantiate the survey findings. The study was conducted in accordance with ethical standards. This study aims to examine the effect of microcredit from rural banks on poverty alleviation of female entrepreneurs in Ghana. It found there was a major positive impact on business outcomes like sales, customer base, productivity and profits. Such initiatives have improved income levels and financial security of the people under this program. Specifically, the combination of financial aid, empowerment, guidance and other forms of skill-building and networking opportunities available to female entrepreneurs proved most beneficial and reinforcing the pivotal role that microcredit plays in stimulating entrepreneurship, increasing income levels, lowering poverty rates as well as enhancing financial inclusion among rural Ghanaian women entrepreneurs. To investigate the effects of Sonzele Rural Bank on female entrepreneurs in Ghana the study analyzed the quantifiable impact of access to a micro financial institution as an inclusive development-financing model. The study identifies impressive progress made towards socioeconomic empowerment through Sonzele Rural Bank for many female businessmen. This program made quite a difference to children's education by improving academic achievement and reducing educational financial stress as well as described alleviating the school fees and supplies burden for children. It also increased the ownership of assets, improved women's involvement in household decision-making, budgeting, and financial planning practices, children were healthier etc., and it has improved financial literacy among the populations through workshops and resources. It also promoted the role of women in local decision-making. These findings highlight the very essence of how this program can enable women entrepreneurs to take charge of their own destinies while making them financially independent, which is in tune with the idea/tenet of financial inclusion and community development. From the results, it is recommended that government agencies such as National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP) and Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) as well as microfinance institutions particularly Sonzele Rural Bank expand the coverage of their microcredit programmes in rural areas. This can be done through partnerships, outreach campaigns along with the community approach or using mobile units to go to people. It would also be useful to create specific financial services and financial solutions that take into account the needs of female entrepreneurs, including training on business, finance, and skills.
