Abstract (EN)

This thesis study focused on investigating the association between patients diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and healthy individuals, specifically concerning the levels of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) protein and genetic polymorphisms. The primary emphasis was on understanding how chromosomal abnormalities and genetic variations impacting the differentiation and proliferation of lymphoid progenitor cells play a role in ALL. Collected samples from a total of 75 patients, comprising 42 females and 33 males, as well as 50 healthy individuals, with 23 females and 27 males. These samples were collected during the period spanning November 2021 to January 2022. To evaluate IGF-1 levels, the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique was employed. Simultaneously, genotypic distributions of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the IL-33 gene were analyzed using the restriction fragment length polymorphism-polymerase chain reaction (RFLP-PCR) method. The findings of this thesis unveiled a noteworthy correlation between the genotypes of ALL patients and their respective age groups and genders. Furthermore, a significant association between IGF-1 protein levels and both the patient's genotype and demographic attributes, including age group and gender, was established. The study's conclusions suggest a promising avenue for utilizing acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients as a valuable resource for early prediction of the disease. By integrating genetic testing for genotype assessment and monitoring IGF-1 protein levels, it is recommended that these combined factors could serve as a robust tool for early detection and prediction of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This novel approach could potentially enhance the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment strategies for this type of cancer.
