Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, plants have been source of healing. Despite all the developments in at the center of human life both as food and as a chnology and science, herbal treatment is still used as a primary treatment method in many parts of the world. For this reason, the determination of the phytochemical substances contained in plants and the detection of their potential antiradical, antioxidant, antimicrobial and anticancer properties continue to increase their scientific appeal. In the master's thesis prepared to contribute to such studies, it was aimed to determine the antiradical, anticancer and phytochemical compounds of ethanol, methanol and water extracts of endemic Astragalus compactus Lam.,subsp. compactus (guni) and endemic Verbascum diversifolium Hochst. (nizip mullein) plants grown in and around Elazıg. Antiradikal activities of plants werw determined against ABTS, DPPH and OH radicals, A2780 human ovarian cancer and MCF-7 human breast cancer cell lines. According to the results of the study, all extracts of V. diversifolium were in the ABTS radical scavenging test; V. diversifolium ethanol and methanol extracts in the DPPH radical scavening test; V.diversifolium mathanol extract in the OH radical scavening test showed higher antiradical activity than the standard antioxidant BHT. It was determined that both plants are rich in total phenolic, total flavonoid, total proanthocyanidin, alfatocopherol, phytosterols and unsaturated fatty acids. According to the results of the anticancer analysis, it was understood that both plants had high anticancer activity depending on the increasing dose. In the light of all the results obtained from this masters's thesis, the in vitro antiradical and anticancer activities of the Astragalus compactus subps. compactus (guni) and endemic Verbascum diversifolium (Nizip mulleın) plants grown in and around Elazıg and the phytochemical compounds they contain have been clarified and brought to theliterature.
