Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTPurpose of this study is to crosslink atactic polypropylene which is produced as by-product atPetkim Petrochemical Holding Co. Aliağa Polypropylene Factory by using chemicals and todetermine the effects of temperature,amounts of dialkyl peroxide (DAP) and coagentpentaerythritol triallyl ether(PETA) on the crosslinking of atactic polyprıpylene under the nitrogenblanket.To determine the effects of the temperature, amounts of peroxide (DAP) and coagent (PETA)on the chemical crosslinking of atactic polypropylene ,one parameter was unchanged whileother two parameters were changed one by one and at the end of the experiments, according tothe amounts of the gels,for the chemical crosslinking of atactic polypropylene , 165ºC ,4.5%DAP and 10% PETA were found as ideal conditions.Under the ideal conditions ,amount of gelwas found as 2.2%.Structure of gel was examined by FTIR and TGA and results of gel were compared to theresults of APP. Although there is no difference between APP and the crosslinked APP TGAresults, it was found that the chemical crosslinked APP FTIR spectrum contained extra typicalcarbonyl bond at 1728 cm-1.Separately ,filtrates produced during the chemical crosslinking of APP at 165ºC by using4.5% DAP and different concentrations of PETA were dried and solved in toluen and than theirviscosities were measured by using Brookfield Viscometer.It was found that viscositiesincreased as the amount of PETA was increased. As a result we can say that filtrates containthe crosslinked APP also its molecular weight is effected by the amount of PETA.I
