Abstract (EN)

In the 15 years since Atatürk declare Ankara as the new capital city and his death many thing regarding the daily life in Ankara had been changed. Especially the socio-economic, entertainment, press and architectural changes of the city had been the most noticeable ones. Regarding the socio-economic structure Ankara was a small town during the Ottoman Empire and lost half of its habitants due to war and epidemic. After the declaration as capital city this has changed and a fast increase of population had begun. This change in the population also changed the economy of the city. The Gazi Orman Ciftligi, a forest farm, which foundation was monitored daily by Atatürk himself was an important detail and the main driver of this increase. While the entertainment culture in the twenties of the last century consist only of a few hotels and restaurants it changed in many way after the middle of that decade. In the thirties it almost achieved a level to compete with Istanbul but never reached its level. Although Ankara?s press has never been as effective as the Istanbul press, the important contribution of institutions like Hakimiyet-i Milliye and Anadolu Ajansi to the liberation war and the turkish press development cannot be ignored. The architecture which can be regarded as one of the most important processes of the change in the daily life of Ankara was always very important to Atatürk. The reconstruction process which began with the foundation of the Ankara Sehremaneti met the requirements of the population and continued until it came to the level to compete with European capital cities. Look at it in this context, Ankara?s daily life has always drawn attention with its interesting details.
