Abstract (EN)
Microbial fuel cell is a bioreactor that uses bacterial metabolism to produce electricity energy. The studies on MFCs have been icreasing to have the energy production from organic waste improved in recent years. MFCs include an anode compartment, a cathode compartment, a proton selective membrane and an electric circuit. Bacteria in anode compartment oxide the organic material and produce electrons and protons in process. In opposition to flame, electrons are absorbed in the anode compartment and transferred to the cathode compartment with an electric circuit. Produced H+ ions move into cathode compartment through a proton seperate membrane and combine with O2 to produce water molecule. Produced power in MFC is based on the type of microorganism in anode compartment, the shape of MFC and the conditions of operation. This study presents detailed results on the energy density produced in MFCs, which was operated with two different synthetic wastewater in a medium without mediator.Keywords: Microbial fuel cell (MFC), Electric production, Cation selective membrane
