Abstract (EN)

Atopic dermatitis is a common dermatosis of dogs caused by environmental allergens, associated with IgE antibodies, characterized by inflammatory and pruritic skin disease, with characteristic clinical features, where the predisposing is genetically predominant. In this thesis, in vitro allergen-specific IgE levels were determined in dogs with atopic dermatitis and compared with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 concentration. 10 dogs with atopic dermatitis and 10 healthy dogs were included and allergen-specific IgE test (20 parameters) and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 measurement were performed in both groups. The minimum 25(OH)D3 concentration of the atopic dermatitis group was 7.98 ng/ml, and the maximum 25(OH)D3 concentration was 16.36 ng/ml. The mean of 25(OH)D3 of the patients is 10.21 ng/ml. In the healthy group, the minimum 25(OH)D3 concentration is 8.93 ng/ml and the maximum concentration is 56.87 ng/ml. The mean of 25(OH)D3 in the healthy group is 22.39 ng/ml. The difference between the groups in terms of vitamin D was statistically significant (p<0.05). In conclusion, serum 25(OH)D3 levels of dogs with atopic dermatitis were lower than the healthy group. Although 25(OH)D3 levels are relatively higher in healthy dogs compared to the atopic dermatitis group. Further researches should be studied about the amount of vitamin D in dogs fed commercial diets or homemade foods, considering that dogs can only take vitamin D alimentary. In addition, further studies are recommended to reveal the relationship between vitamin D and chronic diseases.
