Abstract (EN)
Introduction and Purpose : Acne vulgaris is a multifactorial skin disease that can result in scar formation. CROSS, which is one of the many modalities used in the treatment of acne scar, is a method that uses high concentrations of Trichloracetic acid. In this study, it was aimed to compare the effectiveness of CROSS technique applied using 70% and 100% TCA. Materials and Methods : The study included 40 patients with atrophic scars on their face, skin type Fitzpatrick 2-4, aged 18-65. The patients were randomly divided into two groups of 20 people; 70% TCA was applied to the first group, and 100% TCA was applied to the second group as 3 sessions at 3-week intervals. The study was completed with 28 patients. The patients were asked to score the outcome of the treatment 3 weeks after the last session. The scoring scale was determined as 0 ineffective, 1 in development of acne scars 0-%25, 2 %25-50, 3 %50-75, 4 %75 and above. Researchers also rated development. Patient and researcher scores were compared. The burning sensation they felt in the procedure was scored, the frosted appearance time was measured, and how long the crust formed lasted was determined and compared. Results : The mean age and standard deviation of the participants in the study were 27.07 ± 5.48 in the first group and 23.5 ± 2.9 in the second group. There was no significant difference between post-treatment patient scores and research scores. (p=0.54, p=0.57). Negative correlation was observed between age and patient and researcher scores in both groups. (p=0.02, p=0.03). In group 2, treatment efficacy was shown to be significantly better in icepick scars than in boxcars. (P=0.02). The crusting times were found to be significantly higher in the second group. (P=0.03) Conclusion :There is no difference in efficacy was observed between 70% and 100% TCA concentrations. Conversely, side effects such as new scar and disadvantages such as long crusting times at 100% concentration were observed
