Abstract (EN)

Art is the way of expressing emotions, thoughts and dreams and the testimony of life since the existence of humanity. Man, who reveals what he wants to tell in time through colors, melodies, words, form, imitation, has the opportunity to combine all the elements of expression with the art of cinema. Cinema is the youngest art, shaped with technical and aesthetic elements, pushing the limits of creativity. One of the successful representatives of cinema art in the 21st century is the Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. The director, who reflects the common feelings of the human with his unique cinematographic language, is an artist who has brought his success from local to universal level with two Oscar awards he received. The aim of this research is to examine the cinema of Asghar Farhadi in terms of Auteur theory, which compares the director to a creative writer. For this purpose, first of all, Auteur theory was evaluated in the light of the thoughts of different theorists. Iran and Iranian cinema, where Farhadi cinema is a part, has also been involved in the research with its historical development process. To reveal the theoretical framework of the study and the social context of director cinema, literature review method was used. In the analysis of Farhadi's films, the analysis method consisting of the synthesis of stylistic analysis and structural analysis methods used in fictional film analysis was used. Within the limitations of his research, the Dance Film (2003), The Beautiful City (2004), The Wednesday Fire (2006), About Elly (2009), A Separation (2011), The Past (2013), The Seller (2016) and Everyone Knows Feature films (2018) were evaluated on the basis of the criteria used by Auteur theory in determining the creative director. As a result of the evaluation, Asghar Farhadi, who achieved creativity in the narration by using the technical and aesthetic possibilities of the cinema, was determined to be a auteur director.
