Interaction of avangart photo and avangart photo with typography

The purpose of this thesis is; it is to show the process of being photography as an art discipline and how it has taken part in graphic design studies in this process. Avant-garde currents emerged in the United States, Europe and the Soviet Union between the two world wars and gained strength by affecting art environments with their innovative vision. As a reaction to the traditionalist arts of the past, he tried to create a new identity to art, developed in the chaotic environment of the period. Numerous experimental studies have been produced in this short period.The process of starting avant-garde currents and the became an art discipline of photography during the same period. Before that, photography was developed, technically qualified and then tried to be added to art, but thanks to the search for new artistic tools, photography ceased to be an add-on to painting and became a separate discipline. This change brought experimentalism to an artistic plane in photography, revealing differences. These quests in art have made photography develop very quickly, despite its history of nearly nine decades from the first photograph to avant-garde arts. One of the domains of photography has been commercial productions, and the commercial aspect of the photograph has gained importance due to the desires of developing industries and societies for economic development. Photography, which is a visual language, combined with typography, has reached a stronger language structure. These two instruments were combined with innovative art understandings of avant-garde artists to seek a new visual language.In the first part of this study; visual searches for photographic image are explained. In the second part; with the discovery of photography, the searches in the photo are mentioned. In the third part, avant-garde currents (staight photography, futurism, neue scheilkent, constructivism, Dadaism and surrealism) in which photography constitutes an identity are discussed and the interaction of photography and typography is discussed in each current. Thus, it was tried to show the place where the photograph acquired in graphic arts.
