ABSTRACTTHE EXPERT OP N ONSABOUT APPLICATION OF ERASMUS PROGRAMMEIN THE ENTRANCE PROCESS OF EUROPEN UNIONŞER , AlaettinM.A. ThesisScience of Currıculum Development and InstructionThesis Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Ali GÜLERJuly-2005, 204In this study, the effects of Erasmus practice on Turkey?s higher educationprograms and on academician and student exchange is examined using qualitativeresearch method. In this context; for the research question `what are the opinions ofcurriculum experts on Erasmus program on the way to the European union?,curriculum experts? views on formation of individual?s identity, reflections of actionplans on higher education programs, studies on curriculum development, teachingprocess and measurement and evaluation practices, possible changes which may occurin the use of materials and information technologies are sought. Curriculum experts?viewpoints are compared with observations and experiences of both academicians andstudents who took part in exchange programs and also with field literature.Five curriculum experts from four different universities, three academiciansand five students who took part in exchange programs participated in the study. Threedifferent questionnaires were prepared by the researcher for curriculum experts,academicians and students. An experts approval on the validity and reliability ofquestionnaires was obtained. Gathered research data were examined during the springterm of 2004-2005 academic year and following conclusions were drawn fromexpert?s views:• Experts state that living in different cultural richness, getting adapted to theserichness will have an effect on the development of social and intellectual abilities, onthe development of self-confidence and value, and on having different viewpoints.• Experts state that action plan will create a change in higher education:a. Transformation of institutional structure, process efforts of training and trainingprogram based on the structure of European training program.b. Perts point out that action plan of credit transfer system will provide unity withtraining and programs, besides training programs will be constituted according toEuropean training standards and this will provide transparency with training.c. Experts tell that diploma action plan will stipulate common programunderstanding , and will provide accreditation with training and content process , andwill bring equivalence to professional competence based on European professionalcompetence , and will provide certificate and diploma accreditation.d. Experts state that curriculum development projects will provide academicsharing and wholeness in programs with higher education, and will create interactionsin practicing programs according to the standards.• Experts point out that curriculum development studies should take intoconsideration society?s reality while developing curriculum content.• Experts tell that action plans in training practice and academics exchange will beeffective in practicing such activities as student centered training, project in training,creative and critical thinking.• Experts state that action plans on achievement evaluation and student exchangewill bring whole evaluation practices based on training performance and processevaluation.• Experts point out that employing material and knowledge technology action planand academics exchange will affect various classroom practices, and will createdistance learning education with web training practices.Key Words: dentity Formations, Higher Education, Erasmus Programme,Development Curriculum, Teaching, Evaluantions, Material and InformationTecnologies.
