Political participation of women in Turkey in the process of harmonization with the European Union acquis

The participation of women in the assembly and the representation of the general public are an integral part of democracy. Women gained their political rights in the early years of the Republic. First, women gained the right to vote; then they gained the right to stand for election in local administrations and parliaments. Initially, the rate of women's deputies in the Turkish Grand National Assembly was high. However, these rates are not satisfactory today. Besides the right to vote and stand for election, another form of participation in political life is to become a member of non-governmental organizations and political parties. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of women in these areas is insufficient. This low political participation is an obstacle for Turkey, which wants to become a member of the European Union. The EU has expressed this with various documents, in particular, progress reports. The basis of this question lies in several reasons in terms of sociologically and politically. Measures should be taken to ensure permanence in practice, including legal amendments.
