The European Union's tourism policies and evaluation of the travel agencies views on the Euroen Union

This study is composed of three main parts. The first part includes the development process, institutional structure, decision-making procedures and the policies of the European Union and legal sources of the Community Law. The place of tourism in the world economy, the place of European Union in the world tourism and the place of tourism in the European Union economy are the other issues that are handled in the first part. In the second part; mainly tourism policies of the European Union are discussed. In this context after envisioning the elements and development of the European Union's tourism policy the Union activities that directly affect its tourism such as information exchange and dissemination of knowledge in the field of tourism, package travel, package holiday, package tour, time share properties, the rights of airway passengers and protection of these rights are handled. Lastly, the European Union activities that indirectly affect its tourism like economic and monetary union, taxation policy, competition policy are envisaged. In the scope of the last part, the results of the questionnaire conducted to the travel agencies located in the centers where there exist Executing Boards of Turkish Travel Agencies Union are elaborated in order to evaluate views of these agencies on the European Union. It is intended to determine attitudes of the travel agencies about the relations between European, Union and Turkey. In this context, impact of European Union-Turkey relations on Turkish tourism is tried to be analyzed through the usage of various statistical methods.
