Özet (EN)

European Union changed different names and features as a result of Rome(1958), Paris(1952) and Maastricht(1993) Pacts. It was formed by the combination of 27 European countries and it is the biggest political and economical union of the world. In addition to this, Turkey and Croatia are candidate countries which want to join this union. Since the foundation of Union, it gave more importance to industrial and agricultural sectors, however; The Union didn?t give the same importance to tourism sector. Because of this the Union has a great delay in formation of its own tourism politics. In the late of 1990s there had been a serious progress in the tourism politics of Union but there were some problems in practice. Today Union?s not having its own tourism politics calls great attention. Union?s tourism politics is formed by direct or indirect other political areas and decisions taken about tourism. Improvement of seasonal and residental distribution of tourism, giving more importance to Professional education, improvement of tourist rights, to be open to new technologies and varieties, keeping tourism statistics correctly, improvement of transportation?.etc. These all are Union?s own tourism politics and Turkey has to adapt itself Union?s torism principles. When we examine the tourist profile of Turkey, it comes out that: Graduate of university and in average income groups, professional in their careers, middle aged, come by airways, stay in hotels, come for trip and relaxation and mostly come in summer. When we add this tourist profile our rich tourism components and adaptation studies it is obvious that we are as strong as Union.
