European Union and Turkey's energy policy in the context of the economic impact of nuclear energy

The energy resources of the world are limited. But energy demand is quite high. The world provides 80 percent of the energy needs from fosil fuels. If new energy sources are producted commercially, it is forecast that fosil fuels will run out after 70 years and the world's energy crisis will become. Also, it leads human beings to the search for new energy sources because they are limited and give rise to environmental disasters as a result of incineration of fossil fuels. This energy source is expected to be largely a source of nuclear energy. Energy is not only for the existence of life, is also important for economic growth. Turkey, which has to meet a large part of energy needs from outside, should take into absolute energy supply portfolio to continue development of the industrial sector in order to compete in the international arena of nuclear energy. Energy policy of Turkey as a country with a high energy demand, should be designed timely, adequately, reliably by taking into consideration economic conditions and environmental impact. And also it should help energy demand carry out the intended economic growth, support social development movements and give directions. If Turkey put into practice nuclear energy option, it will reduce its dependence on foreign energy and provide gains in the economic sense. Moreover; because of the great potential on nuclear energy issue, it becomes even more important. To support this main idea, the concrete facts and statistical data are largely given on this study. This study is designed to recite different aspects of the EU's energy policy with the short and understandable manner and the European Union's nuclear energy policy's structure, function, results and objectives for future applications are described. Also in this study, Turkey's current energy sources, nuclear energy need, nuclear energy's contribution to the economy of Turkey and Turkey's ongoing studies in order to adapt to the EU's nuclear energy policy are briefly discussed. We hope that This study will contribute to the efforts of the concerned parties to adapt to changing conditions in the process of Turkey's EU accession.
