Quality quests in the visual arts teacher training higher education institutions through the process of admission of European Union

The target of this research is defining the quality standards for programs of visual arts teacher training higher education institutions, the conformity of the defined standards to opinions of related academic staff and assessing realization degree within these institutions and putting forward these institutions? opinions about the quality improvement processes. The research, which is in the general screening model, is implemented on 223 teaching staff of 12 Art Education Departments. Obtained results were analyzed in SPSS software. Frequency and percentages were used for defining the conformity to standards, and article based frequency and percentages with arithmetic average and standard deviation were used to define the realization degree within the institutions. Kruskal Wallis Test, T-test and Unilateral Variance Analysis (ANOVA) were applied in order to determine if there is variation among the opinions respecting to research variables.As a result of the research;1. Standards defined in 19 scopes and 153 articles were found to be appropriate at a high rate of %99.86 by the academic staff.2. Realization degree of defined standards in faculties was measured as ?partially? according to the opinions of the teaching staff. It is determined that there are deficiencies concerning the realization of standards within institutions.3. It is seen that there are not significant differences between the opinions of lecturers respecting their ?academic title?. However, realization degrees of standards in faculties were found quite lower by the lecturers having the title of ?professor?.4. According to the ?gender? variable there is not significant difference between the opinions of the academic staff. It shows that the conformity level of defined quality standards was comprehended as the same from the point of both men and women.5. According to the ?seniority? variable, there is not significant difference between the opinions of lecturers.6. According to the ?presence of postgraduate programs in employed institutions? variable, there is not significant difference between the opinions of lecturers. However, there is significant difference within the views concerning the competency of lecturers.7. Opinions of the academic staff about fine arts education quality and quality processes in visual fine arts training were defined.Recommendations, based on the problems arising as a result of the research, were mentioned by the researcher.As a result of the research;1. According to the seniority variable between the views of trainers respecting is not considered significant difference.6.According to the presence of postgraduate programs in employed institutions between the views of trainers respecting is not considered significant difference.However, there is significant difference within the views concerning the competency of trainers.7. Views of trainers serving Fine Arts Painting-art Department of Teaching Training concerning quality and quality processes in visual fine arts training were defined.Recommendations by researcher were mentioned based on the problems arising as a result of the research.
