Abstract (EN)

Our subject of study is "the Rights of Sexual Minorities on European Convention on Human Rights and Turkish Practice". It is not possible to mention about a certain right particularly for sexual minorities on the text of European Convention on Human Rights. However, the rights and freedoms set forth in Convention can be applied to sexual minorities just everbody else. Article 8, the right to respect for private and family life, is one of the best examples for being applied for sexual minorities. Besides, sexual minorities applied to European Court of Human Rights on the grounds that violation to their right to respect for private and family life, prohibition of discrimination and right to marry. Therefore, these three rights especially will be discoursed in our study. There are many studies about sexual minorities' rights in Europe; however in Turkey there is very few studies about sexual minorities inspected legally. Sexual minorities is a group whose rights are violated a lot in Turkey. That is why it is very important to exercise a legal study about this disadvantageous group to show that sexual minorities's rights are also human rights.
