The national struggle around Aydın and its neighbourhood and the activities of the efe

In our thesis, we will deal with the incidents having led to Greek occupancy and atrocities in Aydın and also the resistance shown against this occupancy. The appearance and activities of the Efe, having significantly contributed to the Turkish National Movement by playing active roles in this regard, are dealt through illustrative information and documents.In the first chapter of the thesis, the last period of Ottoman Empire and developments influencing the future of the country in this period are discussed.The second chapter deals with the terms Efe and Zeibek existing around Aydın, the evolution, they have made within the history and the new and positive mission they have acquired during the occupancy years. Furthermore, we give special attention to the Efe in Aydın and its neighborhood having changed the ill fate of a nation through their existences within the National Struggle.In the third chapter, Information on the occupancy of Aydın by Greek powers and the resistance movements shown against the occupancy are provided.The fourth chapter deals with the cruelty, torture and massacres carried out by Greek occupation forces on citizens of Aydın.Contextually, our thesis focuses on Turkish National Movement having played an active role at the beginning of the National Struggle and being accepted as an element providing a feasible milieu for the development of the struggle and also especially on the events occurred around Yörük Ali Efe. Our thesis shed lights on the history, enriching the existing information by means of supportive, formative and original documents. Furthermore, our thesis informs regarding the destruction of Greek Occupation on the region and citizens.On the other hand, our thesis introduces that the Efe and Zeibek, existing in Aydın and its neighborhood, always kept in contact with Mustafa Kemal, the leader of the National Struggle, and enforced his orders.
