Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of heavy metals (As, B, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Zn, Pb, Fe, Mo, Ni, Mn, Ba, Cd, Sr, U, V) in the drinking water quality of the Efeler district in Aydın province. Material and Methods: In this research, a total of 63 water samples were collected from seven different locations in each of 9 neighborhoods of the Efeler district in Aydın province, using the EPA 200.8 method. The collected samples were analyzed using an ICP-MS device to determine the levels of heavy metals. Results: According to the research, the average levels of heavy metals in the drinking water of the Efeler district are as followed: As: 1.66±0.53; B: 53.30±103.62; Cd: 0.10±0.01; Cr: 0.19±0.14; Co: 0.08±0.22; Cu: 12.39±15.49; Zn: 46.56±78.58; Pb: 0.98±1.24; Fe: 21.74±42.97; Mo: 0.76±0.22; Ni: 2.87±5.90; Mn: 3.97±8.31; Ba: 53.75±36.56; Na: 30238±33137; Al: 53.46±203.46; Sr: 438.74±363.99; U: 0.60±0.026; and V: 0.11±0.02 µg/ml were determined. Conclusion: Aydın province's Efeler district has been determined to have lower levels of heavy metals in it's drinking water than national and international standards, limits, and guideline values. However, it has been identified that there are differences among neighborhoods in terms of heavy metals such as As, Ni, and V, and these differences may be due to corrosion in the distribution equipment.
