Abstract (EN)

Ornaments are used as a distinctive sign and as a gift during the ceremonies of religion,birth,death,marriage and bravery.Societies spread and introduce their culture via ethnographic works of art.The samples of ornaments which take place in ethnographic works of art are quite important in putting forward Anatolian culture.Samples of ethnographic works of art have noteworthy,rich qualities of the period they have been made in terms of both tools that are used,techniques that are applied and places of usage.This research was planned and conducted in order to investigate ethnographic ornaments in Aydin Museum,to put forward the qualities of ornaments belonging to the period,to make contribution to new resources and adaptations.98 pieces of ethnographic ornament samples are analysed within the infromation forms,photographed and represented in the catalogue.According to the information obtained during the observations and study,ethnographic ornaments are classified in respect of uses as a belt,earing,bracelet,necklace and brooch etc.Most of the ornaments were added to the catalogue in 1985.They belong to the Republic and Otoman period and are mostly designed with silver and copper mine, semiprecious stones are used in decoration. Metal as a designing technique,embassing,filigree and nailing(pegging-transfixing) as a decoration technique are intensely used.It has been observed that the use of penes is much and penes is used in more brilliant ornaments.In penes,form of ?Hand of Mother Fatma?,representing abundance, is used.Geometric ornamenting is intense in ornaments.Curved branches among herbal motifs, Seal of Süleyman ,sembolizing justice and maintainability,among traditional forms draw attaention.As a locking system,locks with bolt and hook are more intense.
