Özet (EN)

Language is a bridge that connects the past and future of societies, the bearer and mirror of the written and verbal culture, and an important means that satisfies the need for human being to express their feelings and thoughts. The most important factor for individuals to express themselves correctly and to establish healthy relationships with their environment is their native language. İndividuals who can use their native language well establish a healthy communication with the society. Using the native language well means knowing and applying the grammar and pronunciation of the language correctly, as well as having a rich personel vocabulary. As Ludwing Wittgenstein said, who made important contributions to the philosophy of language, "The limits of my language are the limits of my world." Many proposals are listed by educators, especially the act of "reading", to improve personal vocabulary. However, the two places where all the listed proposals will be implemented are school and family. The school and the family should be aware of which books to read, as well as gaining the habit of reading books for the development of the student's vocabulary. Idioms, proverbs etc. İn selected books. Should pay attention to whether their use of language will contribute to the development of the student's vocabulary and select books accordingly. Especially in school life, the Turkish lesson has a great role in improving the vocabulary/ vocabulary of individuals. Both Turkish textbooks and reading resources suggested to students should be rich in vocabulary. Research in other countries of the kindergarten children who finish secondary school graduates in Turkey with the children's vocabulary shows that have numerical equality. This means that the textbooks that are taught to them are also written with a limited vocabulary. For all these reasons, more research should be done to determine the current status of vocabulary, students textbooks, the readings in these books, stories, novels etc. used at home and at school. The selection of literary products should be made in a way that they can improve their vocabulary according to their level of development.
