The Effects of Shadow Economy on Economic Growth in Azerbaijan Shadow economy is a complex economic issue that countries have to deal with. Although the shadow economy is believed to have certain negative impacts on the economy, there might be some positive effects. This study aims to analyze the effects of the shadow economy on Azerbaijan's economic growth. The study analyzes the effects of the shadow economy in the period 19912017 in Azerbaijan. In order to analyze the relationship between the shadow economy and economic growth in Azerbaijan, VAR and VAR Granger Causality analyses have been utilized. Although the study finds no significant connection between shadow economy and economic growth, the VAR Granger Causality test indicates that the shadow economy and economic growth cannot forecast each other and there is not any type of relationship.
