Abstract (EN)
In this research, Azerbaijan's policies and approaches towards the Eurasian Economic Union were examined. In this direction, first of all, the effects of the Eurasian Economic Union and the policies of the member states and the formation of the Union on international relations were evaluated. What are the effects of Azerbaijan's policies towards the Eurasian Economic Union and what advantages would be provided by Azerbaijan's national interests in terms of being a member or not have been researched. In the study, document scanning was made from qualitative research methods. Official documents, theses, scientific books and articles, newspapers and other news sources related to the subject were used in the subjects targeted for research. As a result of the research; It has been determined that the neutrality or balanced foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan has a significant effect on the stable stance of the fragile structure in the South Caucasus. It has been concluded that the Eurasian Economic Union, which was established under the leadership of Russia, was formed on the border of Azerbaijan, has an EU-like organizational feature, adopts an expansionist approach, and is important for Azerbaijan and other countries in the region. This union was evaluated as a political project as well as an economic project. In this respect, it can be said that political factors outweigh Azerbaijan's approach to the Union. With the rapid development of Azerbaijan in recent years, its involvement in the economic integration initiative, which can be said as the new Silk Road, can be stated as a supporting element for its multi-factor economic policy. Cooperation with Russia as a strategic partner and even other countries in the region in the field of economic and trade can make Azerbaijan even stronger. It can create a defense shield against Russia's oppressive policies regarding the security of the people, which is one of the most important factors, and its economic development can stabilize in line with national interests. Apart from this, it can be said that Azerbaijan's distance from Russia's integration projects has an impact on the fact that it calculates the costs that may occur in terms of sovereignty and the ability to maintain an independent energy policy rather than economic conditions.
