Abstract (EN)
SUMMARYIt is known that Vitamin B12 deficiency have the negative effects on the central and peripheral nervous system, the gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular system, musculo-skeletal system, hematological and immunological systems. In our country, However there are many studies about the effect of iron deficiency on psycho-social motor gerilik development, there are very few comprehensive studies about effects of vitamin B12 deficiency on the psycho-social motor retardation in children. In our Region, because of the high incidence of psycho-social motor gerilik development problems that as a result of vitamin B12 deficiency. We designed as a prospective study with 40 case between the ages of 1-20 months with B12 deficiency and 40 mothers who accepted to study. At the beginning and at 3-6 months after treatment, patients? hematological measurements, blood B12 levels, blood folate levels were measured, and DENVER-II test which evaluate psycho-social motor retardation development of children was performed. Also mothers ` blood vitamin B12 levels and blood folate levels were measured. At 3-6. months after treatment we found that in a short time the treatment of patients with cobalamin responsive and psycho-social motor retardation development was significantly improved by neurological examination and Denver-II test. Our study is a importand study because of it is a rare one of the few comprehensive studies that investigate the effects of vitamin B12 deficiency on psycho-social motor retardation development, Also it is a rare study which use DENVER-II test for determination of psycho-social motor development retardation. As a result; vitamin B12 deficiency may causes psycho-social motor gerilik retardation in children and In the early period as 3-6 months, mental and motor development is significantly improved by the treatment of vitamin B12 .Keyword: Psycho-social motor development retardation, DENVER II test, Vitamin B12
