Özet (EN)

In this master's thesis study, the production and characterization of B4C and SiC reinforced Al-Mg hybrid composites by powder metallurgy method were investigated. The aim of the study is to improve the mechanical and physical properties of hybrid composites, to determine the optimum reinforcement ratios and to control the pore formation. For this purpose, hybrid composites were produced by powder metallurgy method by mixing Al-Mg alloy powders with B4C and SiC powders in different ratios. The effect of production parameters was investigated and the optimum sintering temperature, time and atmosphere were determined. The microstructures and mechanical properties of the produced composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and mechanical tests. The results showed that B4C and SiC reinforcements significantly increased the hardness, wear resistance and strength of the hybrid composites. Optimum reinforcement ratios were determined and suitable production parameters were determined to minimize pore formation. This study showed that B4C and SiC reinforced Al-Mg hybrid composites can be produced by powder metallurgy method and these composites have superior mechanical and physical properties. The results obtained shed light on the potential use of hybrid composites in aerospace, automotive and defense industries.
