Özet (EN)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the utilization of vineyard prunings in panel products as a material for case construction furniture manufacturing. In this study, experimental panels were produced under laboratory conditions at different ratios of vine pruning to wood chips. Urea formaldehyde was used as the sole binder in all mixtures.Physical properties such as specific gravity (TS EN 323), moisture content (TS EN 322), thickness swelling (TS EN 317), sound transmission, sound resistance, and thermal conductivity of panel (TS ISO 8302) were determined. Mechanical properties such as static bending (TS EN 310) and modulus of elasticity (TS EN 310), tensile strength parallel to surface (ASTM 1037), tensile strength perpendicular to surface (TS EN 319), shear parallel to surface (TS 5192) , screw withdrawal from face and edge (TS EN 320 and TS EN 13446), and dowel withdrawal were investigated. In addition, L ? type corner joints, which are commonly utilized in case type furniture were tested and evaluated under static diagonal compression and tension. In corner joints, specimens were assembled with screws or dowel and PVAc adhesive.Physical and mechanical properties of panels which were produced with the mixture of vine prunings were compared with related standards and literature. According to results, some physical and mechanical properties of test specimens were found to be consistent with related standards. It was also concluded that, improvement of manufacturing conditions may make a positive effect and improve the performance of these panels to facilitate the achievement of more adequate properties. The comparison of corner joint test results with relevant literature provided promising presumptions that these panels maybe utilized in manufacturing of case furniture.
