Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT PhD Thesis THE CONTROL OF THE STAND-ALONE PHOTOVOLTAIC CELL SYSTEMS BY COMPUTER Ahmet ŞENPINAR Firat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering 2005, Page: 117 In this thesis, it is aimed to get benefit from the solar energy which is one of the renewable / alternative energy sources by using photovoltaic cells electrically. The photovoltaic cell system which includes two stand-alone photovoltaic systems, one is the fixed and the other is moving, established to compare their efficiency. The fixed system is located as to get maximum sun light according to angular calculations due to the latitude and longitude values of the place where the experiment done. The moving system is controlled by a computer software to get maximum sun light. The operation principle of the array is based on the angles of the sun and the mathematical equations. All angular calculations were made by the software during whole daytime. The movement of the sun in two axis were observed continuously by the aid of these angles. The data from the two photovoltaic system taken in daytime and recorded and compared by the software. Key words: Photovoltaic cell, moving system, solar angles. XIV
