Praise in baki and Nef`i Divans

m ABSTRACT Praise in Baki and Nefi Divans Mesut GÜN Master Theses, Turkish Language and Literature Advisor: Prof. Dr. Mine MENGİ September 2002, 215 Pages In this study, which meanings have been given to the concepts of "Fahriye", "Tefahhür", "Medhiyye" and "Temeddüh" in the dictionaries were focused on. Then, Praise in Baki and Nef Î Divans was investigated. Sabahattin KÜÇÜK' s study on Baki Divan and Metin AKKUŞ's study on Nef î Divan were considered as the basis of this particular study. In the main section of the theses, those being praised via poems in Baki and Nef î Divans were examined under the headlines of Turkish Sultan, Seniors of Religion, Grand Vizier, Sheikhulislam, and these persons and groups were compared. Later, the poems praising the poets themselves were studied and compared under the headlines of oriental folksong forms such as Qasida, lyric poem and terci-i bend, efc. In the conclusion section, the poets were compared according to their personalities and the era they lived in. besides, the groups praised and the oriental folksong forms were considered while the divans were being compared.
