Abstract (EN)
The first stock market in Azerbaijan was established in 1886 and it was suspended for a few years after the First World War and after the decision of the communism administration, it continued its activities in the 1922-1930s, but was closed again in the 1930s. In the following years, the stock market did not exist in the Soviet economic management system. In the years of independence, stock exchanges were re-established in Azerbaijan. Today, there are exchanges such as Baku Fund Exchange (BFB), BICE - Baku Interbank Currency Exchange, Azerbaijan Commodity Exchange, Azerbaijan Raw Materials and Commodity Exchange, and Labor Exchange. Baku Fund Exchange was established on February 15, 2000. The founders of the stock Exchange are 18 major banks and financial institutions. These institutions also include the Istanbul Stock Exchange. The first alish-sale transactions were carried out on September 1, 2000 at the Baku Fund Exchange and institutions of the organized securities market were established in the country. The participation of the leading financial institutions and with 100% private capital fund established for the work of the Baku Stock Exchange, National Center deposit the re-establishment of the country's securities market intermediaries – brokers caring institutions and the creation of the most serious steps towards the development of the securities market may include. The volume of repo/counter-repo transactions in government domestic debt securities has also increased in the equity markets. in 2020, repo/counter-repo transactions with corporate bonds doubled compared to 2017 and amounted to 36 million manats. in 2020, 90% of repo/counter-repo transactions fell on government bonds. in 2018, a total of 7.4 billion manats and a total volume of 1.03 billion manats were traded on the Baku Fund Exchange on the platform of derivative financial instruments on foreign currency-based, commodity-based derivative financial instruments with a total volume of 7.4 billion manats. in 2022, the total volume of securities transactions on the Baku Fund Exchange amounted to 14.9 billion manats.
