Determination of some quality characteristics of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars grown in bandirma region, Balikesir province

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to examine the quality characteristics of 17 bread wheat varieties (Triticum aestivum L.) grown in Bandırma region of Balıkesir province in the 2017-2018 season. As the quality traits in the study; thousand kernel weight, grain width and length, hectoliter weight, protein value, Zeleny sedimentation, delayed sedimentation, falling number, humidity, wet gluten and gluten index properties of cultivars were investigated. As a result of the research, Sagittario variety was determined as the variety with the highest thousand kernel weight with 44.78 g. The variety with the longest grain length was Forblanc with 3.32 mm, the variety with the longest grain length was Renan with 7.64 mm. Nusrat was the variety with the highest hectoliter weight with a value of 83.76 kg/hl and the highest protein content with a value of 16.92%. In the study, Nusrat with 39.26% and Tigre with 38.90% were the varieties with the highest gluten content. Hanlı was the variety with the highest sedimentation value with 56 ml. According to the delayed sedimentation values of Esperia, Golia, Hanlı and Renan cultivars, it was determined that these cultivars suffered sunn pest damage. In the study, it was concluded that Glosa, Tigre, Nusrat, Kaşifbey, Hanlı and Rumeli cultivars, which are among the first five cultivars in most of the characteristics discussed, are the cultivars that stand out in terms of quality characteristics in the region.
