Abstract (EN)

Technology entered every area of our life today. Banking sector also has been affected from this change and the bank customers have achieved the freedom of realizing all and any kind of their transactions at any where wherever and whenever they wish without going to bank branch through the technological opportunities provided by electronic banking. It is known that, today, an important part of the transactions realized by the banks are performed by means of electronic banking product and services, which are called as alternative service distribution channels in other words. The electronic commerce, ever-increasing in recent years, has resulted to be felt in also banking sector and the types and volume of the transactions has begun to increase. The structure of banking sector is analyzed in this thesis study at first and foremost and following this, the definitions related with electronic commerce are discussed and finally, the electronic banking applications of Şekerbank T.A.Ş. is analyzed as an example for electronic banking.
