The place of performance assesment in the determining education needs in banking sector

In this thesis, the effects and results of performance assessment on educational activities in banking sector was examined.The research is based on the model of survey of enquiries. Through the questionnaires, the role of performance evaluation in determining educational needs of banking sector was tried to been deciphered. For this purpose, the ideas of employees in the banking sector have been taken about performance evaluation and training policies. On the basis of research results, the relation between performance assessment and education has been examined.The universe of research consists of 312 employees from 26 branches of 13 state or private banks in Osmaniye. The method which is used in this survey is choosing sample from universe. Nine different branches have been chosen through random sampling method. 106 employees of chosen branches answered the questionnaire. For the analysis of data in the questionnaires frequency and percentage defining statistical methods and chi square and correlation analysis methods were used.The data deriving out of this survey shows that in the banking sector, performance evaluation are used and the employees can apply the information and skills that they acquired during the training programs. The result pertaining to relation between assessment and performance suggests that the relation between taking education and participating in decision making process is parallel to each other. Secondly, the connection between the employees? perception of performance evaluation and taking education is meaningful. The relation between performance efficiency indicators and educational efficiency is also meaningful. These results suggest that the participation of employees to decision making process of performance evaluation and their perception of results increase the efficiency of banking sector.
