Performance evaluation and an application ın the banking sector

Today, institutionalization and investment in human resources take the first place at the plans of companies to increase their profits and to ensure the sustainability of their growth. Enterprises are working to manage human resources as the most important competitive strength, to detect desires and expectations of their employee right and working to develop more effective policies. In the banking sector, such as operating in a broad range of domestically and abroad, it is impossible to manage human resources with outdated, as unsupported by scientifically and technologically methods. This condition makes it necessary to perform proper performance evaluation methods, compatible with corporate culture and required by age in human resources management.As a result of the assessments made in this study, has been reviewed the current performance evaluation process, in order to actualize effective career management in one of the leading banks in Turkey. The 360 degree performance evaluation method was used, because it is appropriate to respond to the expectations of employees and the corporate culture. The performance evaluation forms are created with taking into account the opinions of experts in the field of people who work in the banking sector and based on the competencies that should be present. In addition to performance evaluations of individual employees, also taking into consideration their activities related to banking practices and the performance evaluation process is enriched. Performance evaluation was carried out for the employees in two different branches of the Bank and the existing model is compared with the proposed model. Line with the results, the implementation of the new performance evaluation model will activate bank?s career management more and suggested and recommended to implement this model bank-wide.
