Abstract (EN)
Obesity and obesity-related metabolic disorders are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Bariatric surgery is a highly effective treatment method for improving comorbidity with weight loss in morbidly obese patients. The postoperative nutritional process plays an important role in treatment. The aim of this study is to examine eating awareness, eating behavior, depression-stress-anxiety, quality of life and biochemical parameters in women who have completed their 6th month after bariatric surgery. The study was conducted with women aged 25-40 who underwent sleeve gastrectomy in a private hospital in Elazığ and completed their 6th month after the operation. The study data were collected with a survey information form between July and December 2023. The survey form includes questions regarding subjective assessments such as age, self-reported body weight (kg), height (cm), body mass index (BMI), demographic characteristics, disease, nutritional habits and nutritional behaviors. In addition, the Eating Awareness Scale (EAS-30), Adult Eating Behavior Scale (EAS), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DAS-21), Quality of Life Scale (SF12) and 24-hour retrospective food consumption record and biochemical parameters were used in the survey. SPSS 26.0 program was used to statistically evaluate the data obtained from the variables examined in the study. At the end of the study, it was found that the average age of the individuals was 33.27±7.84 years and the average Body Mass Index after the operation was 27.11±4.42 kg/m2. It was observed that as depression and stress increased, eating awareness decreased (p<0.05), and as emotional overeating increased, depression increased (r=0.259; p=0.040). It was found that all of the biochemical parameters examined were within the reference range. As a result, individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery are at risk for post-operative depression, stress and anxiety. This situation is related to eating awareness and eating behavior. Quality of life is also affected by this result. After bariatric surgery, this process should be followed by a team including a specialist dietician.
