Abstract (EN)
Today, one of the most important environmental problems faced by many large and small settlements is domestic solid waste. This waste needs to be evaluated and disposed of without damaging the environment. Solid waste is evaluated and disposed of by various methods such as removal, incineration, composting, recovery and recycling in the land. The Solid Waste Landfill in Bartın province causes environmental pollution due to wild storage and thus directly threatens the health of the people. Therefore, this area should be abandoned as a Solid Waste Landfill. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the new Solid Waste and disposal plant area planned to be established within the boundaries of Kaman village of Bartın Province Central District provides the necessary conditions for solid waste disposal plant. The examination area is located within 2.5 km north-west of the village of Kaman in the Central District of Bartın province and approximately 6-6.5 km north of the city centre within an area of 98,029. 94 m2 with Forest allocation. Geological units located within the boundaries of Kaman Village selected as a Solid Waste Landfill in Bartın province; determination of geotechnical properties and groundwater levels, calculation and criteria for design (soil classification, index properties, safe bearing value, subsidence, bulking of the soil, slope stability, liquefaction, etc.) determination, evaluation of permeability features, planning stage and subsequent construction of the soil problems that may be encountered were determined. In addition to the geophysical studies, which have been done in previous years in the field of Investigation, the newly opened research pits and soil soundings have been evaluated as a whole. The types and distributions of geological units in the field of investigation were tried to be determined, on-site experiments were carried out, soil and rock mechanics experiments were carried out on degraded and unspoiled samples and coring samples were investigated and the engineering properties of the ground were investigated. In addition, Geological-geotechnical factors that may affect the construction of the planned Solid Waste and disposal plant have been determined. The basic characteristics of the soil units of the plant planned to be constructed within the scope of the Bartın regular Solid Waste Project, transportation power, determination of geotechnical parameters, permeability status, excavation safety and the effects of geological-geotechnical properties and geological environment conditions of the ground, were examined. Land observations, research pit and drilling studies in the investigation area; Upper Cretaceous-Campanian aged Akveren formation (KTa) - Cangaza Volcanic member (KTaç)'s brown-blackish grey coloured, loose, water-saturated, clastic sandy volcanic sandstone, grey black coloured clay and in placed andesite are located. Parameters used in calculations and analyses in the field of study were obtained with the help of soundings, laboratory experiments, observational studies, RMR-GSI classifications, RockLab program and literature studies. Considering the hydrogeological properties of geological units in the field of ınvestigation, granular media aquifer(Akf-1), molten-fractured rock environment aquifer (Akf-2), akiklüd environment (Akl) and aquifuge environment (Akj) were distinguished. The findings and calculations obtained in the research show that geological units located within the boundaries of Kaman Village, selected as Solid Waste Landfill in Bartın province, will positively provide the soil problems that may be encountered during the planning phase and subsequent construction phase in terms of their characteristics.
