The investigation of scours at the end of stepped spillways

One of theimportant problems associated with the design of this type dams is the damage that may arise asa result of scour of river bed downstream of spillways. At a perfect project because of thesecurity of the dam and the other hepler building,the erodibility in the river-bed immediatelydownstream from the spillway-chute and the dept of the expected scour must be known. Theestablishment of the at the project period will disappear the probable problems.In this study, the scours at the end the of the chute channel were made clear and wasstudied for getting lower of the scour to the least. This studying includes seven sections; In thefirst section, introduction is presented, the aim and the imply of the studying were explained. Inthe second section, the scours at the end of the shooting channels were given clearly. In the thirdsection, general informations about the hydraulic of stepped spillways were given.In the fourthsection, summary of literature was presented. In the fifth section, the samples about the scoursat the end of the stilling basins were given. In the sixth section, experimental setup and themaking of experiments were told. The results about grafics were explained and discussed bydrawing.In the seventh section, the results were given. According to the results of theexperiments that were made in this study, the increasing of the scours which has been at themouth of a river channel of the stepped spillways was seen.Keywords : Scour, spillway, stepped spillway, stilling basin
