Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of home experiments with simple tools in distance education on students' science process skills and science learning motivation. The sample of the research consists of a class of 30 students at the 7th grade level, studying in a public school in the Nilüfer district of Bursa. The design of the study was determined as a simple experimental design by single group pretest-posttest. Since the research did not have a control group, a parallel design, which converged from mixed methods, was adopted in order to increase the validity and reliability of the results. The Scientific Process Skills Test (SPST) and the Motivation Scale for Science Learning (MSSL) were used as quantitative data collection tools, and it was determined whether there was a difference by using the same tests and scales before and after the research process was started. The analysis of the quantitative data was provided with the SPSS program. The quantitative part of the data consists of semi-structured interviews with four students with different academic achievement levels, who were voluntarily selected by the researcher from the experimental group before and after the research, and unstructured science diaries that all students were asked to keep throughout the research. During the research (seven weeks), the students were allowed to do the designed experiments with simple tools in accordance with the experiment sheets sent to them. According to the findings obtained from the analysis of the quantitative data, there is a statistically significant difference between the SPS pre-test and post-test scores; It was determined that there was a positive difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the MSSL, but this difference was not statistically significant.
