Abstract (EN)

Trauma is the most common cause of childhood death and disability. Trauma; It can occur with physical (traffic accident, fall, beating, etc.), chemical (acid and alkali burns), thermal and psychological factors. In our country, traffic accidents are in the first place and occupational accidents are in the second place in deaths due to trauma. Multitrauma is more common in children because their body mass index is small. Airway provision should be the leading intervention in pediatric traumas, because the most important cause of cardiac arrest is respiratory arrest. Another form of trauma specific to the pediatric age group is battered child syndrome. In pre-adolescent and adolescence periods, it may occur in the form of sexual traumas. Many physiological and anatomical scoring systems have been developed for the evaluation of trauma patients. The purpose of score systems is to provide accurate and rapid diagnosis and treatment of patients. Two scores that are frequently used are; Trauma Score (TS) and Glasgow Coma Score (GCS). The commonly used form of TS is "Revised Trauma Score - RTS". In this study, we analyzed the general etiological factors of pediatric traumas in our region by retrospectively examining the demographic data of all trauma cases aged 0-18 years, who were admitted to the Emergency Service of Başkent University Faculty of Medicine Adana Research and Application Hospital between 01.01.2008 and 31.12.2009 and were followed up and treated. We aimed to inform the emergency medicine team by determining the conditions and priorities that should be considered in emergency service applications. Keywords: Trauma, emergency room admission, inpatient treatment
