Özet (EN)
If hearing loss is not diagnosed and rehabilitated in a newborn, inadequate psychological and social development occurs. In this study it was aimed to investigate hearing loss in newborns and determine the mean time of intervention in children with hearing loss. Hearing loss rate in newborns and the average time of intervention in children with hearing loss who applied to Ankara Baskent University Hospital Ear Nose and Throat Department between 1.1.1996 - 31.12.2017 were examined. Hearing loss was detected in a total of 64 newborns. It was found that 49 children started using hearing aids and 14 of them were treated with cochlear implants. Cochlear implants were applied to 22 hearing-impaired newborns 11 of which was unilateral and 11 were bilateral. In this study, the age of diagnosis before 6 months was found as 0.71 %. It was determined that 83% of the children had a hearing aid until 2 years old. Cochlear implantation was found to be worn up to 2 years of age in 13 children.
