Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to examine the self-esteem and perceived stress situations of basketball classification referees working in the Turkish Basketball Leagues in decision-making according to different variables. Survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. 80 female and 380 male basketball referees participated in the research. The research was conducted with the classification referees of the Turkish Basketball Federation with 2021-2022 visas. Personal Information Form, "Melbourne Decision Making Scale" and "Perceived Stress Scale" were used. SPSS program was used to analyze the data obtained in the research. Normality levels of the data were determined by the Kolmogorov - Simirnov test. Since the data did not show a normal distribution, non- parametric tests were used in statistical comparisons. In pairwise group comparisons, the Mann-Whitney U test was used, and in groups with more than two groups, the Kruskal-Wallis test was used. According to the results, when the gender variable was examined, a significant difference was found between the total stress and its sub-dimensions. Perceived stress score of female basketball referees was found to be higher, and no difference was detected in self-esteem in decision- making. In the marital status variable, no difference was detected in perceived stress and its sub-dimensions, but a difference was detected in self-esteem in decision making. Married basketball referees' self-esteem scores in decision making were found to be higher. Perceived stress and its sub-dimensions and decision-making self-esteem scores were found to be lower for referees who held managerial positions. When the classification variable was examined, FİBA referees' perceived stress and sub-dimension scores and self-esteem scores in decision making were found to be low. When the education variable was evaluated, no significant difference was found in perceived stress and its sub-dimensions, and the scores of individuals who graduated from an undergraduate program were found to be high in self-esteem in decision-making. As a result, the perceived stress levels of basketball referees are affected by many variables, and as the classification level of the referees increases, the perceived stress level decreases.
