Abstract (EN)

This is a descriptive study conducted to determine the clarinet methods used in the education institutions where an academic training of clarinet is offered for the starters? level and to find out the reasons why they are preferred and the frequencies of preference. For the theoretical basis of the study, the method of review-scanning has been used. Through the study, the clarinet methods used in the musical-training institutions that offer an academic training of clarinet for the starters? level have been determined trough the data from the interview forms applied to the specialized trainers and performers. The universe of the study consists of the clarinet teachers who train the students on how to play the clarinet at the starters? level. The research conducted has shown that literature of the clarinet methods is divided into some schools in our country and world. With consideration paid to the views of the clarinet teacher in the sampling group, it has been possible to determine the frequencies of preference for the clarinet methods and the reasons for their preference. As a result, the method of starting mostly employed has been found out and the reasons why the clarinet teachers prefer it have been considered. Thus, target behaviours that can be applied in the starters? clarinet training have been determined. The general features of the clarinet methods used in the starters? training have been examined and the teachers who teach how to play the clarinet and the students who learn it have been provided with information about the clarinet methods. And finally, some recommendations have been made about the clarinet training offered in the musical training institutions in Turkey.
