Ideology production in press and effect of news production process (Case study: Headscarf Judgment of Council of state and council of state attack)

Ideology is a term that shapes all aspects of life. Ideology is seen as the leading factor for society in macro level and micro level for establishment, foundation, class, group, individual to represent themselves as an identity in social structure. Since media enterprises are a part of social structure, it could not be argued that they can isolate themselves in ideologic approaches. On the contrary through various relations process, they constitute ideology policies under the name of publication policy.In this research it is identified that in which circumstances and processes do the ideologies has been constituted by the media enterprises. It is emphasized that how and in which respect the constituted ideology affects the news making process of the newspaper. The term ideology and the development of press in the world and Turkey have also been explained. Anadolu?da Vakit, Cumhuriyet, Günlük Evrensel and Yeni Şafak newspapers have been analyzed for a 20 day period in the context of Council of State attack case study which happened in 17 May 2006. Ideologic approach of the papers has been identified by analyzing news texts, photographs and caricatures and page designs. When all the findings are taken into consideration it is found out that press in Turkey does not help developing democracy culture. On the contrary it is seen that they produce unilateral news depending on the dominant discourse. Other findings are as follows; press dysfunctionalize the objectiveness discourse itself, newspaper is an ideological package with all its belongings, press sometimes fray the structure of nation state through its publications. In addition it is also identified that economoy and political government orients the press.
