Abstract (EN)
Stone completion applications carried out in archaeological excavation areas are an important part of anastylosis applications as a protection and presentation technique. At the stages of raising the monumental structures of the ancient period, which were uncovered as a result of scientific excavations and have lost their integrity, the missing parts are removed through completions. This situation contributes to the preservation of meaningless and scattered stone building elements in the area, as well as makes archaeological sites easier to understand by today's contemporary societies. It is aimed that the research will contribute to the stone completion and exhibition studies to be carried out. In this context, the methods and applications of stone completion in archaeological excavations in the Western Anatolia Region were examined in 23 selected ancient cities, in particular 53 buildings that have undergone completion intervention. The intervention saw the completion of individual structures of "architectural features, original material and technique, completion of the intervention in the application process, completing that have been used in materials, properties and conservation status of these materials/process change in the basis of a complete application, and completion methods in terms of stylistic features were examined. The rest of the original material and the original material and the new material with each other and the completion of the aesthetic harmony of harmony, techniques for specifying which has been adopted in stone finish, stone completions and completion practices were evaluated according to determined the approach to protection legislation. When we look at contemporary restoration practices in terms of material use, it is understood that cement-based imitation mortars are used in stone completion applications in 19 of the 23 ancient cities considered. According to Deconstruction studies, it is understood that cement-based mortars were mostly used in applications before the year 2000, and the most intensive uses occurred between the 1950s and the 1980s. In the completions after the year 2000, it is observed that the use of natural stone continues to increase. When the protection conditions of the completions are examined, it turns out that it is more appropriate to use natural stone instead of cement-based mortars and synthetic resin mortars.
