Byzantine coins found in the Batman Museum

During an expedition carried out in the Batman Archaeological Museum in 2023-3024, pieces of Byzantine coin were found. 3 of these coins are gold and the remaining 106 are copper/bronze. The Byzantine coin catalog begins with the coin of Anastasius (AD 491-518) and ends with the coin of Manuel I Komnenos (AD 1143-1180). There are 109 Byzantine coins serving as research materials in the Batman Archaeological Museum. In the catalog section of the work, the stock numbers of the coins in the museum are listed. The following 109 Byzantine coins were found in the coin collection of Batman Archaeological Museum. The coins evaluated in this thesis have been cataloged according to the system accepted by widespread numismatic publications. According to this system, Byzantine emperors and empresses, minting places, coins and units were tracked chronologically. In addition, the Byzantine coins in the Batman museum were identified and the images of the coins were taken front and back and included in the catalog in the clearest form. All information was taken from the Batman museum, evaluated and explained accurately from a scientific perspective. The figure and year can be seen on the front and back of the coins in the catalogue. The metal, weight and diameter of the coin in gold and silver units are discussed. For copper units, first the diameter and then the weight were taken into account and added to the thesis section. Then, bibliographic information and coin inventory number were discussed. Here, the Dumbarton Oaks catalogue, the coin chronology and descriptions of the anonymous A2 group were taken into account. The new types that emerged were added to the end of the similar variation of that species.
