DETERMINATION OF THE RESISTANCE OF THE VENEERADHESION ON SOME WOODEN BOARDS COMMON USES(Master of Science Thesis)İsmail KLIÇGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYFebruary 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, it is aimed to determine the veneer bonding strength on wood-based panels. Particleboard, fiberboard (MDF) and oriented strandboard(OSB) have been chosen as a testing material due to their widespread usage.Radially and tangentially cut veneers made of pine, beech and oak havebeen glued on the surface of the boards whit the some adhesives such aspolyvinylacetat (PVAc), ureaformaldehiyde (UF) and contact glues. A total of540 testing examples have been tested according to the conditions of determinedin the TS 5339 standard.At the end of the tests, the highest bonding strength has been determined in thecombination of radially cut beech veneer, oriented strand board andureaformaldehiyde glue.
