Determination of agricultural performance of some fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) genotypes

Abstract (EN)
This study aims to determine the performance of different fenugreek genotypes under the ecological conditions of Tokat. The research was conducted in the 2023 growing season in Tokat-Kazova under ecological conditions using a Randomized Block Design with three replications. The experiment included a total of 17 fenugreek genotypes, comprising 15 populations two from abroad and 13 from various regions of Turkey and two standard varieties. The study evaluated findings related to emergence time, flowering time, plant height, number of branches per plant, height of the first pod, pod length, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, thousand seed weight, seed yield per decare, biological yield, harvest index, fixed oil content, and fixed oil yield. According to the results, plant height values ranged from 49.9 to 76.4 cm, the number of branches per plant ranged from 1.8 to 3.2 pieces/plant, the height of the first pod ranged from 20.4 to 45.8 cm, the number of pods per plant ranged from 6.9 to 12.1 pieces, and the number of seeds per pod ranged from 6.6 to 9.7 pieces. The highest seed yield per decare (213.4 kg/da), biological yield (799.0 kg/da) and oil yield per decare (13%) were found in the Kireçli population. The highest fixed oil ratio was obtained from the Kastamonu population, with a value of 7.4%. As a result of the study, the Kireçli population, followed by the Çiftçi, Gürarslan, Özvatan, Kahyalı, and Mecitözü genotypes, emerged as the most prominent genotypes in terms of seed and oil yield.
