Abstract (EN)

Biofilm is an organization that emerges as a result of the coexistence of bacteria and protects microorganisms from adverse environmental conditions. Biofilm formation, which was initially regarded as an industrial problem, has emerged as a result of researches, not only in industry but also associated with many health problems. Antibiotic treatment of biofilm-forming bacteria is more difficult than other bacterial infections. In particular, biofilm formation in medical materials affects the function of biomaterials and causes serious infections. Plants have been used for centuries as a natural medicine in both modern medicine and phytotherapy. Especially, the decrease in the effectiveness of synthetic drugs used recently in the treatment causes scientists to conduct research on the pharmacological effects of plants. Since the resistance of biofilms to disinfectants, antibiotics and synthetic drugs is high, the extracts obtained from plants have started to work on antibiofilm activities by scientists. Three thousand of the thirteen thousand plant species of the flora of Turkiye are endemic plants. In this study, the effects of extracts obtained from Achillea fraasii Sideritis trojana and Galanthus trojona endemic plants were studied on the biofilm formed by Bacillus subtilis DSMZ 1971, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 7644, Listeria innocua, Escherichia coli 1214816 strains.
